So Close and Yet so Far
She's almost there. She'll stand there without holding onto anything. She'll take a couple tiny steps towards something without holding onto something. She'll barely be out of reach of something. She's soooooo close to walking.
It's still at the stage of being pretty cool as she stands there all by herself. She doesn't act like it's that big of deal, but I know she knows she's not holding onto anything. This evening she stood by Maria while she was pointing out various body parts. Her nose, eyes, teeth, hair all got the point. She'd counter her weight as she balanced her body by bending forwards for something. Every once in a while she'd reach out to get ready to catch herself, or steady herself, but realized she didn't need it. After that, she'd stand back up taller, and bring her arm back in, no biggie.
Sure, at this point I say it'd be nice if she were walking. In another 3 months I would imagine that I'll be saying that I wish she weren't walking. Such is life. We've all seen the saying that you spend the first 2 years of their life trying to teach them to walk and talk, and the next 16-18 years trying to get them to shutup and sit down.
