Boxes and Hairdos

| | Comments (1)

It's fun to have a little person around the house. They're available to do pretty much anything you'd like. In some instances, she chooses to do things on her own, and in others, we make her do it, since she doesn't know any better, and we're just having a little bit of fun.

Car-Capades

| | Comments (5)

I went to Jiffy Lube recently for my annual safety and emissions inspections. My car is a bit older than most, but it still works like a charm. To make a long story short, it failed the safety inspection. The guy was nice enough to point out a small hole in my exhaust (not the one at the end, but one in the middle of the pipes/tubes), complain that my rear window's brake signal was covered by tinting (despite the fact that it's always been covered, and this exact same guy has let me slide for the past 3 or 4 years), and my front-left turn signal was out.

New Server

| | Comments (2)

Welcome to the new home of Longbored Surfer. Nothing should look different, because nothing is different from your point of view. We've moved to a server with a bit more space, and with improved up-time. The price isn't the same as what I had before, but it's still pretty decent. In case you hadn't noticed the cool little theme changer down in the bottom right of the page, under the 'Geeky Junx' section, you can now swap themes of the site. I'm working out some of the finer details of it, but overall it's pretty cool. Sorry for the downtime and lack of updates. I was just waiting for this all to get sorted out.

A Mean Piece of Toast

| | Comments (2)

The Perfect ToastJust wanted to let you know that I make a mean piece of toast. Sure, it's just toast, but you have to start somewhere. I'm glad that I've carried on such a fine tradition of toast making. It could be a lost art, but I've stepped up to the plate and shown my amazing culinary abilities once again.

The Content Migration

| | Comments (2)
Well……. not that anybody but a select few people will care, but I've not migrated quite a bit of content over from PabloNoEsta.com. In the constant effort to get my websites up with what I originally had in mind, I'm moving over the Soap Boxes, Light Bulbs, and Lists (as well as other random posts). I've completely moved the first two (but haven't yet deleted the old ones off of there). Only the Lists elude me right now.

How TV Should be Watched (TiVo)

| | Comments (4)

Don't people understand how TV should be watched? Recorded, and watched at your convenience. That's the simple answer to this. Just because a show comes on at 7 shouldn't mean that you have to reorder your life to watch it at 7, or even 8. I shouldn't even have to watch it that day. I might choose to watch it the next day when I have a free moment at 3 in the afternoon. So, for all those people who's schedules are dictated by the TV line-up, do the rest of us a favor - don't talk about TV.

How Are You

| | Comments (0)

I talk to a person at work several times a day, by phone, for business reasons. I get called because they have a question, which I am able to answer. They are in a learning phase, so it's perfectly acceptable to get these questions and phone calls. The part that is weird/annoying to me is that each time I get called, I get asked "How are you?" Do you think it's changed? Does it really matter? Tell me what you're calling for, and let's get this show on the road.

Sociology

| | Comments (2)

Due to censoring by my wife, I have taken down this post about Sociology, which was deemed too over-generalized. Despite the fact that the observation was made about a "weird number" of people - not the majority, not the minority, not everyone… I was on thin ice. To clarify a bit about my blog, and my observations or notes on here, let me continue…

The Intern (me)

| | Comments (4)

I'm doing an internship in a different department at the moment. The one person who currently does the job has found another job within the company. Being the only intern, when the position became available to apply for, I applied. Well, when they decided to hire two people for the overworked position, and I wasn't one of them, naturally I was a little disappointed. The best part of it that as they transition to the new people, their plan is to have me learn all the responsibilities, do the job as one person (that they've hired two people to do), and then train the new people when they finally get here. Gotta love the business world.

New Domain Home - Part 2

| | Comments (3)

Okay, it's official now. I'm not sure if anybody noticed it, but we're here now at the new domain of LongboredSurfer.com. If you typed in the old address, you'll have been forwarded here automatically. No longer am I limited to being a sub-domain… I'm my own whole domain. Hopefully with this place being here, I'll really take advantage of it all. Glad to have you here. Welcome… again… to The Longbored Surfer. Yippie! (happy Groundhog Day, by the way… go watch that fabulous movie!)

Room Rearrangments

| | Comments (1)

Maria had me rearrange our bedroom last night. I think a great activity at 9:15 in the evening would be to rearrage a room. Holding stuff off for the weekend is so overrated. Let's shift a desk, bed, pair of bed-side tables, couple filing cabinets, sewing/craft table and other random crap around the room right before we're supposed to go to bed. Sounds like a great idea….. not.

Dynamic Publishing and PHP

| | Comments (2)

Not that anybody will care about this article, except maybe one or two people, I still wanted to document how I got this site working on PHP, and technically able to dynamically run. I'd like to tell you that it was just as easy as SixApart/Movable Type made it out to be, but that's not the case.
