Boxes and Hairdos
It's fun to have a little person around the house. They're available to do pretty much anything you'd like. In some instances, she chooses to do things on her own, and in others, we make her do it, since she doesn't know any better, and we're just having a little bit of fun.
At the beginning of the month we went to Costco and made some of our usual purchases. Costco is nice enough to give you slightly larger boxes for your stuff, so you don't have to make 20 trips to the car to unload. So, they provided us with a box that previously housed Hearts of Romaine Lettuce. When we returned home, we unpacked the box, and were putting stuff away. As has already been displayed by this picture, Cecilia took a bit of a liking to the box. She kept asking to get into the box. She'd want her blanket in there, a book, maybe her drink. She started just hanging out in the box. We've spent plenty of money on good, quality toys, and all she wants to do is get in a cardboard box. Reminds me of our Christmas experience (she was very interested in the wrapping paper… not so much in the toys).
Cecilia gets a bath every other day. She loves them. She splashes the whole time, and flings herself around the tub while she plays with various toys, and enjoys just being a kid. The purpose of taking a bath is not to give her something to do. If she weren't taking a bath she'd just be puttering around the house making noises. The bath is so that she can get clean. So eventually we have to wash her hair, and as you can see, we can sculpt her hair, due to the holding nature of shampoo. It's lots of fun.
I'm not saying that you should have a kid just so you can sculpt their hair, but it's lots of fun to have them do various things. Here's to you Cecilia for being such a good sport about this. No, I won't get out this photo when you go on your first date…. but I can't promise that.
Ah, babies. Good times. They are a bundle of laughs and a bundle of poop. I suppose somehow at the end of the day they're worth having. Maybe I'll look in to it.
