The Oven and Leg Propping
As are many children, Cecilia is attached to an inanimate object. Her blanket is her vice of choice. It was a gift from her great-aunt when she was born. It's extremely soft, and she loves to have it touch around her mouth. She likes the fuzziness of it on hands, fingers and face. She really digs it. Well, she totes the thing around with her all over the place, and as she gets more tired, she wants it to be with her more. As is the example with this particular photo, she combined 2 of her favorites – her blanket, and being in front of the oven.
I understand the oven obsession. It's reflective, and likes to see herself. Lately she's taken a bit more to dancing, so she'll bust a move in front of the oven (or as was the case last night, she was just turning in circles while staring at the ground). The dancing isn't limited to the kitchen. She'll dance whenever she's feeling it, and that doesn't always mean there has to be a beat. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. Back to the oven – it's never on when she's around it, but she still enjoys it.
So with this picture, she took her blanket into the kitchen to enjoy them both. I think she might also like the kitchen, since the floors are nice and cool. She's a leg-proper if there ever was one. At night, I'll go and open her door before we go to bed. She's already asleep, and I'll just check on her - make sure she's not lying in vomit (as was the case once), that she has her blanket, and Maria has me check to see if she's still breathing. But I'd say that at least 75% of the time I go in she has a legged propped up somehow in the crib. Pleased as always with a photo opportunity, I like this one best because of the framing and perspective. Be sure to check out the larger version.
As a quick side-story, she's also taken to putting her foot on the back of my seat as we're driving. Nicely propped up, it probably is a very relaxing position. If being fed by others, taking naps daily, and never having an ounce of responsibility weren't enough relaxing, now the back of my seat has joined the family of relaxation.
Pretty funny.
Nice blog.
Cute girl.
Vomit's gross.
Breathing rules.
