Apples and Oranges

Becky-02-03.jpgOthers clearly warned me that no two kids are the same. I thought to myself, “Yeah… but it won't really make itself known until they're older…” how wrong I was. These differences aren't all that significant in perspective to what their whole lives will be, but interesting (if only to the parents) none-the-less.

Becky isn't yet three months old, but I'm going to throw out a little comparison—you can try to figure out who is which of each of these comparisons: (in no particular order)

  1. Grunted – Fairly quiet
  2. Nursed right away – Took a couple weeks to really nurse
  3. Took a pacifier – Gagged on all pacifiers
  4. Slept through the night starting at 6 weeks – Slept through the night starting at 10 weeks
  5. Like the swing – Tolerated the swing
  6. Wanted to be held, constantly part of the action – Content to be not held, and even in the other room
  7. Had colic– not recommended – Didn't fuss much
  8. Spit up constantly – Hardly ever spit up
  9. Looked at the mobile – Couldn't care less about the mobile
  10. Laughed at 6 weeks old – Smiled at 6 weeks old
  11. Visually tracked objects around 5 weeks – Visually tracked objects in the hospital
  12. No distinct eye color for a while – Blue eyes, practically right away
  13. Liked to be wrapped up in a blanket – Wanted limbs free from restraints

Although these are simple differences and Becky being her age, it's still interesting to observe. I can only imagine how different these two will be as they continue to grow older. Despite these differences, they have a number of things in common:

  • Big, beautiful eyes
  • Long, curly eyelashes
  • Not fans of bottles– but we've got all the gear
  • Great nursers that got nice and chubby – gotta love baby rolls
  • Wonderful little additions to a family, and loved a lot

I'm extremely late in adding more pictures for Becky. Hopefully by the time you read this I'll have added some (and if so, I'll put in a little thumbnail of one in this entry). In case you're curious, the answers to the comparisons above are: (C)ecilia & (B)ecky

1 B – C 2 B – C 3 B – C 4 C – B 5 B – C 6 C – B 7 C – B 8 B – C 9 B – C 10 C – B 11 B – C 12 C – B 13 B – C

Fun. I got all of them right on your quiz, btw. I love the photo of Mary with the girls--so pretty!

I also got all 13 right! YES! I did have to take a wild guess on a few though.

i loved your lists and unlike the true aunts i was at a loss. i did get a few correct but didn't really try to play fair. i looked below.

they are pretty similar in looks -- strong breeding for sure. beautiful eyes for sure. tammy faye said something like, eyes are windows to the soul. somehow all that mascara marred her windows pretty bad.

i agree with andrea, the picture of maria with the girls is wonderful. Beautiful mother with beautiful girls.

I love the pictures... but then again, I love the girls too...

After sharing a room with them (with earplugs in, too), I definitely got the answer right to the first one! That's a fun quiz, Pedro. Ditto on the pics
