She Likes Me, Smiles and Fwuluh's
Becky is always full of smiles (except in this picture). Cecilia really enjoys those smiles, and does what she can to earn more from Becky. Cecilia's most frequent comment about Becky is, “She likes me.” It's obviously very important to Cecilia that Becky likes her, otherwise I don't think she'd say it as much as she does.
Cecilia likes to try to tickle her sister and give her new toys to gum to death. Becky, although free with her smiles, isn't very liberal with her laugh. It's fun to see her try. Becky is continuing her spree of trying to be unlike her sister by enjoying being in a Snugli (a backpack type thing for carrying little ones like her). She rolled over for the first time (and countless times since) a few weeks ago. She still only rolls over from her back to her left. She can't roll back, and she can't roll to her right. She's an adamant thumb sucker, and I still think I'm okay with that. She prefers her left thumb, though she'll still go for her right on occasion. She goes for long spurts “talking”, which can be disruptive if you're on the phone, but it's actually just really cute. She's certainly got a pair of lungs on her.
Cecilia had a month or two-long bout with being a pain in the butt. It came about rather unexpectedly and she was acting her age. I tried to pass it off as just that, but I couldn't tell myself that it was normal to be acting that badly. Little did we know that she was also having new teeth come in at the same time. So… add together the terrible two's with a handful of molars, and you've got a real pain - both in the mouth and the butt. Then, pretty much out of nowhere, she was done, and has since returned to somewhat normalcy.
One charming thing she does when she gets upset is to say who she loves, right after she starts crying. This happens mostly when she gets in trouble. She'll find that she's been busted, starts crying, then say “I love my mommy and sister so much.” It's usually very cute, despite me usually not being in a good mood when she says it. Also, I'll mention that Cecilia is a very sensitive little girl. If you're sad, or you cry, or anybody else for that matter, she'll start to cry, claming that she's sad because so-and-so is sad. It makes things a little difficult then trying to calm down two kids (her, and whoever else is sad/crying), but it's still charming to see just how sensitive she is of others.
She loves to sing and reminds me/us of our niece Abigail, who at one point was a singing machine (she might still be). Cecilia likes to sing any song she can remember, and many that she can't. She'll make up songs and pick out phrases from shows or movies and sing those over and over. For example, in the animated Disney movie Peter Pan, the Lost Boys are being recruited to become pirates and at some point Captain Hook (or somebody else… who knows) says “The choice is up to you.” Well… that turned into a full-on song for Cecilia who kept on singing that over and over for an entire day. She particularly likes to sing while looking at herself in the mirror—but she likes to watch herself do most anything in the mirror.
Now she's generally willing/wanting to help her mother or me. She loves taking baths (just the playing part, not the washing), riding her tricycle, going to the park, reading books, or “just chilling” with her blanket. I like getting her to say stuff like “peace out” or “go Spurs” (for whom I made up an entire song for her to sing). She likes “fwuluhs” (flowers), the color pink, using straws in her drinks, chicken nuggets, ketchup, doing puzzles, being with her sister and mother, and lots of other things. She really is very fun to have around.
A quick explanation of the three pictures:
- Becky, about to go take a bath
- Cecilia proud as all get out of her pig tails
- After taking some pictures of the girls for our Christmas card Cecilia decided to play in the leaves. Her mother doesn't care for the showing stomach, but I think it's kinda charming (at this age)
Very cool! I love that picture of Ceci playing in the leaves...it looks so fun.
She is sooooo adorable. I'd love to kiss those cheeks. You and Mary make pretty little girls.
So cute and so much fun to read an update. Miss Liza loves to sing as well, mostly made-up songs that are a combo of different songs she knows. These are fun to do when playing alone, or waiting in bed to fall asleep, or wandering around the house pretending to be a princess. Glad to hear the PITB phase passed. Would that we all could grow out of being a pain in the butt. : )
She is so cute, and just like Cecilia so beautiful. I love that pic of Becky and the leaf pic of Ceci.
I'm retarded and just barely figured out there was more to your post than the first paragraph and first pic. So fun to read about the cute things the girls are up to. They're the best. And Abigail is still a singing machine. Just yesterday she was composing a song on the piano called, "Love Doesn't Last Forever." I'm trying not to read too much into the depressing title.
i loved this update too. i can't get over how similar your two girls look. both stinkin' adorable! what a proud and doting dad you are. i can't wait to see eli being the same way (but i can wait a little while for that!).
