52 Card Pick-up
I think I was 10 years old before I realized that the “game” called “52 Card Pick-up” wasn't trying to make any reference to small trucks. It was obvious that the game itself had nothing to do with them. Somebody would spray a deck of cards all over the floor, and the point of the game… was to pick them up. Any time the game came up I had these thoughts:
- This is a retarded game. Why am I playing it?
- Why on earth do they call it a “pickup” when there is clearly no pickup involved?
- Why am I playing this” again?
Yeah, turbo… it's because you're a sucker enough to pick up somebody else's mess, not because you get to drive around a little wannabe truck. Thanks for playing & come again!
You seem to be feeling very nostalgic lately. Are you getting old or something?
Sucker!
I think it's funny how people (specifically me in this case) come up with things to blog about. There are trends in what I talk about. Sometimes all I seem to do is complain – about people, activities, or anything else that irks me. Other times my entries make it seem like I'm either trying to come up with some profound thought, or I've been too mentally absorbed lately. I'm going to throw out the following reasons for why I've blogged the way I have lately:
I think the most motivating thing on that list was that I hadn't blogged much. I think blogging droughts are hard to get out of, since you feel like you have to come up with something super cool to break the silence. At the same time though, why drive yourself crazy trying to come up with something profound/cool/funny or worthy of such a long silence, when in all reality you're just a normal person? Blog because you like the mental/emotional/social relief. Uh oh… starting to sound soap-boxish. Shutting up… now. P.S. Thanks to my supportive wife with her comment of "sucker". ;)
I was a sucker too! My older siblings loved playing this trick on me.
