Christmas in April
At least that's when Maria would like it to be (and probably at least three other times during the year), especially for Cecilia and Becky. I kid you not, moments ago she told me she had built a shopping list at a web site for me to look over. “What for?” “For Christmas.” Yeah… it's April. Can't wait for the next eight months to go by so we can get to that.
I totally understand. I bought some stocking stuffers this last week.
I think stocking stuffers are totally different. Those are things you're supposed to be keeping your eye out for all year long - so if I happened to buy one a few weeks ago, that's okay. I think my issue was that Maria had built a full-blooded list of real gifts. Again, different if they're clothes, and they're on sale, and you know what size clothes the kids will be wearing when it comes that time. But toys, or other things like that? Pace yourself here… don't get all your good deal buying out of your system quite yet, it's only April.
Hey, why not? At least when you Christmas shop in April, you can do so without hearing the same three Muzak Christmas Carols over and over.
To defend myself. I'm just getting ideas, and will edit my list as the year goes on. Also, as I've been planning Becky's b-day and gifts, I start planning what would be better received in a few weeks and what would be better at Christmas. That's all. Also, April is a good time, because then I'm not stressed out in December. And, then I give exactly what I want to give. It really is a great idea.
I already know what I want to get Allie for Christmas and I know that if I bought them now I would end up giving them to her sooner because I couldn't wait. Then I would just end up spending more and spoiling more in the long run. But I still think it's a good idea!
