Potty Trained

| | Comments (5)

This one might be of little (see: “no”) interest to most people, but it's something that should be recorded for our little family's history. Despite attempting to potty train Cecilia (off and on) since at least July of last year (the first picture I can find of her sitting on her little potty is August 8th, but that wasn't her first potty, so I'm sure she started well before then), Cecilia is now potty trained. I don't doubt I'll jinx myself by posting this, but c'est la vie. Why mark this day as opposed to any other? Well, today marked one entire week without having an accident.

Two or three times she made it five or six days without an accident and the count got restarted.

To commemorate the event, we got her a new shopping cart, which she had been asking for. I think the next time I have to buy diapers at Costco for Becky, I'll drop $40 in Cecilia's piggy bank - since I won't have to spend that money on her diapers. Congratulations Cecilia.

Horray! Shelby is worrying over this very problem since Allie screams bloody murder at the mere mention of the potty. Long before she is trained to use the silly toilet she will first need to overcome this unexplainable fear. Crazy!
Anyway congratulations. No diapers is so liberating! Does she have some pretty panties?

My mom said it all above. I hope that day will come for me before the next year is up.

Overall it was a bit more difficult than I think either of us (Maria or I) had anticipated. All in all… it really just comes down to whenever they want to get around to it. Enough diaper rashes will make anybody try to find a new solution - including Cecilia (or Allie). When they're ready, they're ready. I didn't believe that line when I heard it, but looking back, I whole-heartedly do.

And yes, Wynne, she does have all sorts of fancy new underwear. Little Mermaid, Tinker Bell, Sesame Street, and all sorts of colors. She likes them, and that's what matters, I guess.

Congrats to Cecilia! And I just have to write this, because I don't know where else to comment on your blog about it, but Becky is PURE CUTENESS! The fat rolls, the cheeks, the eyes! She is SO chubby and nice and cute! She is so Peter to, but I have to say, the eyes are totally Mom/Grandma to her. Gorgeous!
