2005.09.10 House Visits

There are several opportunities that you have to visit someone and their family. Recently I submitted a soap box called Hospital Visitors. There are certain things that people do during their visit that makes me nervous and with a new baby in the house. There may be several times during the day that one or two people may be sleeping because of the new schedule called life.

Here are some guidelines I would like you to follow before visiting my family on a moments notice.

Stopping by:

  1. Don't ever stop by when you're "in the area." Honk as you go by, wave and yell, but don't stop in. You could pull in my driveway and I may be in my underwear fighting the heat. Now I have to put clothes on in 20 seconds flat so when you ring the doorbell and I answer it, I'm pretending I was ready for your visit.
  2. With new children in the home ALWAYS CALL FIRST!
  3. Never mind, ALWAYS CALL FIRST FOR ANYTHING. Don't ring the doorbell, don't pull up the driveway, don't walk over, just call. If you think I'm ignoring your calls, you're probably on to something and may want to take a hint.

I enjoy visitors, it isn't apparent here but I really do. But there are several times during the day or weekend you when you may be bored and want to stop by when we may be:

  • Sleeping
  • Eating
  • Bathing the baby
  • Soothing a crying baby
  • Playing Nintendo
  • Doing the hokey pokey
  • Playing with the dog
  • Ignoring the door
