Glen Brogan - Return to a classic#

At Galleries 1988 a new Glen Brogan print is being made - one that will appeal to the Mario fan in all of us. I might just need to purchase this when it gets released.  [Via]

Mimeo and the Kleptopus King#

I'm continually fascinated by the brilliance of Shaun Inman. Seriously. He's such an incredibly talented person, and this, his next project, doesn't appear to be any exception. Instead of the power-ups being provided just to the player (Mimeo), they're provided to the environment as well.

Parliament of Owls - Holiday Cards#

I love custom-made cards - birthdays, holidays, whatever. I think they have a bit more style and awesomeness in them. In this particular case, each of the members of this design team have created their own. Although each card is different, they carry a similar-ish theme (and color palette). I feel like I should start working now on my card for this year.

Old Spice - The Man Your Man Could Smell Like#

Look at your computer. Now back to me. Now watch this. The making of one of my favorite commercials from the Super Bowl this year. All in one shot. I'm on a horse.  [Via]

Magical 8bit Plug#

An easy way to make your own 8-bit tunes. This handy plugin easily incorporates into GarageBand - select your instrument, edit it, select magical8bitPlug as the sound generator, and you've got instant 8 bit power. Pair this up with the discovery of Audio Overload (a respectable OS X video game music player). Although AO is nowhere near as good as what I discussed before, the combination of all these things has me hearing/playing/making/editing 8-bit sounding music.  [Via]

DummyImage.com#

A simple utility that will come in extremely handy for when I (or any web geek) needs placeholder images of a specific height. He kindly provides the PHP scripts so you can run it on your own server as well.  [Via]

Clients From Hell#

Sadly, I can relate to many of these quotes.

Marvin Gaye - The Star-Spangled Banner#

14 months before his death, Marvin Gaye rolled out one of the smoothest (albeit non-traditional) renditions of The Star-Spangled Banner I've ever heard. What an incredible artist he was.  [Via]

Pearls Before Swine - 2/4/2010#

The White Album is a great album, and generally a pleasure to listen to. I know some people love Revolution 9, but I tend to think it sucks.

Monopoly goes circular for 75th Anniversary#

I enjoy the game, though I hardly ever play it because it tends to put people in a bad mood. In this circular design for their 75th anniversary, I think the larger (former corner) spaces on the board will help certain sides or stretches of the board to be easily recognized. Not sure how I feel about the digital banker.  [Via]

Bill Watterson - Cleveland.com#

Cleveland.com gets a rare interview with the creator of Calvin & Hobbes - one of my favorite comic strips. His answers aren't very long, and he comes off a little harsh, but that has an added touch of charm to a creative genius like him. Still, interesting to read. "I think some of the reason 'Calvin and Hobbes' still finds an audience today is because I chose not to run the wheels off it."  [Via]
