2010.06.23 Vampire Weekend - La Blogotheque

Vampire Weekend - La Blogotheque

Another impromptu concert (similar to the previously linked take-away Phoenix concert) except by Vampire Weekend. An enjoyable live performance. #

2010.05.15 The Fab Faux - Abbey Road Side 2 (mostly)

I've had this tab opened in my browser for over a week... mainly because I thought it was outstanding and wanted to post a link to it. I'd love to see these guys perform live. #

2010.04.20 Axis Of Awesome - 4 Four Chord Song (YouTube)

Basically, this whole compilation of songs uses the same 4 chords. Rewind for the lame intro and cussing (and my apologies for profanities later on). #

2010.03.05 Mimeo and the Kleptopus' Ringtones

Bryan Veloso made some ringtones from some prerelease songs from Shaun Inman's awesome (and previously linked) Mimeo & the Kleptopus King. Personally I prefer Jaunt, and have already loaded it on my phone. #

2010.02.15 Magical 8bit Plug

An easy way to make your own 8-bit tunes. This handy plugin easily incorporates into GarageBand - select your instrument, edit it, select magical8bitPlug as the sound generator, and you've got instant 8 bit power. Pair this up with the discovery of Audio Overload (a respectable OS X video game music player). Although AO is nowhere near as good as what I discussed before, the combination of all these things has me hearing/playing/making/editing 8-bit sounding music. #

2010.02.08 Marvin Gaye - The Star-Spangled Banner

14 months before his death, Marvin Gaye rolled out one of the smoothest (albeit non-traditional) renditions of The Star-Spangled Banner I've ever heard. What an incredible artist he was. #

2010.02.05 Pearls Before Swine - 2/4/2010

Pearls Before Swine - 2/4/2010

The White Album is a great album, and generally a pleasure to listen to. I know some people love Revolution 9, but I tend to think it sucks. #

2010.01.25 14, 16 and 15

14, 16 and 15

Amazing how much appearance doesn't change with age. I dig the instruments. #

2009.12.05 Wanna Hld Yr Handheld - 8-bit Beatles

This one won't be for everyone, but I think it's fun. Chiptuned Beatles music. What's that? Think of old-school sounding video game music... then make the music they're playing The Beatles, then add some kind of (potentially digital) voice track. #

2009.12.04 La Blogotheque - Phoenix (Take Away Show)

I love this. I really like the band Phoenix. I don't remember how I found them, but their music works well for me. La Blogotheque got their hands on the band in Paris, and recorded three mini performances by the EiffelI Tower, on a tour bus, and under a random bridge. I love the informality of the performances, the questionable video style, and the pureness of a street performance (or three). I wish they made a full acoustic album. That'd be fun. #
