2005.11.19 Longbored Photos

I've added a new photo section to LBS. It's nothing special, but it works. I have to say that I really like Simple PHP Gallery. The dude's website seems to always be down, like he hasn't paid his bill, or he gets too much traffic. Despite the site always being down, the system works like a charm. With hardly any setup, it's really easy to customize, and extremely easy to use.

Check out Longbored Photos here and download a copy of Simple PHP Gallery here. I'm willing to answer basic questions.

2005.11.19 Finally Finished (again)

I think I've finally finished this site. It took long enough, but this time I'm really serious. The addition of the longbored photos is nice, but wasn't the finishing touch. No, the finishing touch you should hopefully never see. It would be the error page.

2005.11.18 Impersonal "Personal" Awards

Each year my department feels obligated to give out lame awards at the end of the year. They usually attempt to involve some sort of play on words, or inside reference to a certain experience. The award that I got was The Triple 6 Award. No matter which way I looked at it, all I could see out of it all was a satanic interpretation. Attempting to clarify, and make sure that I wasn't smoking one, I assumed that there had to be some sort of mistake. Did they mean to put triple 7's? Am I lucky or satanic?

2005.11.17 How to Anger Yahoo

If you're ever curious on how to make Yahoo stop referring people to your website… all you have to do is put some ads on your site from Google. I signed up for Google Ads, and within 2 days, my traffic from Yahoo went from about 40 hits a day down to 0. Whoa…. their search bot must be a little sensitive to that sort of thing. Note to self: if you put ads on your site from Google, at least program the page not to display the things if they're referred from Yahoo. Since I'm not that smart, I just took the ads off. Nobody was clicking them anyway.

Too bad Yahoo doesn't seem to want to advertise on my site. Go figure. "We don't want them to do it, but we don't want to either." Seems like a double standard, but whatever.

2005.11.16 MacGourmet Templates

I've regained an interest in MacGourmet. I can't say that I ever really LOST interest in it, but it wasn't at the front on my mind. I was looking at some site stats for my other home and found that I had a lot of traffic due to recipes that weren't incorporated into my site, specifically my 2 dinky MacGourmet collections (I Have This Really Good Recipe For… and Recipes from Other Places).
