Our little family had the pleasure of visiting our nation's best national park almost two months ago. My wonderful aunt and uncle were kind enough to host us and take us on a beautiful drive to and through the park. I've finally posted some pictures from that day for your viewing pleasure. If you ever have the chance, I'd highly recommend taking the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway which officially begins a short distance from Cody and goes towards the north eastern entrance of Yellowstone Park. If you don't you'll miss out on one of the best views I've ever beheld. I could have spent a lot more time just enjoying various scenic locations, as well as the company. Although we didn't get to see all the wildlife we hoped for, for my second visit to the park in as many years did not disappoint.
We went and took pictures of the girls today for our Christmas card (Maria is very much on the ball this year). I just wanted to give you a teaser of the beautiful fall colors we got to work with. What a gorgeous time of year!
I hope you're seated – chances are you are already. It might be best if it were a chair that could recline a bit, and if you had some smelling salts nearby. I don't mean to upset you with this… but I was nearly floored when I found out for myself. A piece of your heart is about to die… technically it filed bankruptcy and closed its doors last week. That's right—Mother's Cookies, makers of the oh-so-tasty-and-delicious pink and white Circus Animal Cookies is gone. 94 years of deliciousness is about to disappear from your grocer's shelves. You played with them as a kid, indulged in them as an adult, and now I've got you in tears about their soon-to-be non-existence.
Stop reading this blog. Stop right now and go to the grocery store and buy some. If you don't, they might not be there the next time you actually want some. Don't bother going to the store nearest my workplace, because I bought all but 2 of their bags. It appeared to me that somebody else had my same idea. Sure, the expiration date is in March… but I've now guaranteed myself another 5 months of this piece of my life.
I'm not going to delve into their closing and whether it was done properly or not. This evening while coddling a bag of their cookies I'm not going to cry… much. I can only hope that another company buys the recipe or the rights to make my favorite store-bought cookie – a cookie I feel has made me who I am today. Until that time comes, I hope my stockpile holds up. Let me bid a hopefully temporary farewell to these cookies in the best way I know how – a haiku of passing:
Covered in frosting
Probably not good for me
Freakin' delicious
You knew it would happen again. It's been almost a year since I finished the previous G2 (this one I finished on 10/10, so I'm one day short of a year). For those of you unfamiliar, the G2's are CD mixes I make for my wonderful wife, Maria. This one was made yet again for our anniversary. You'll never guess how long we've bee married. I like sharing the playlist/song with you, and telling a little about the design of the covers. I reserve the right to tell you what I want about the songs I selected for the album, as usual. Unlike the previous G2, this one didn't have a specific theme, or original set of music from which I selected.

Sure, I initially wanted to blog more in September… but I didn't. I sure do like Twitter though, and use it far more frequently. 140 characters to say what you want to say. Sure, it could be as random as a note about Miracle Whip an update on the latest car crap I'm dealing with, or even some weekend entertainment. The point is, I think it just gives you a better idea of what's going on. Admit it. You're sick of reading/writing long blog posts. Sometimes you just want to say a little blurp. You can, and should. Don't forget to follow me.
