I'm afraid what will happen if I go after another design-centered posting here, but you're going to get it.
Luckily for you, this project only had one direction, and one result, and was fairly simple. At this point in time (+/- a few days), it's almost safe to say that if you haven't received a Christmas card from us, you're probably not going to get one. It may be personal, but it probably isn't, especially if you're reading this site. No offense, really. In any case, you can see the card, and read on if you are interested in its design. Read more...
I couldn't wait. I'm excited for Christmas, and having completed this new G2 mix almost two weeks before the big date, I just had to bust it out. On the previous G2 I said I wouldn't wait so long to complete the next one. Not only did I improve on the previous time gap of one year, but this very well could be the closest together any two G2's have been since Maria and I were dating. As nice as you are to read these unimportant things, I imagine you're only wanting to get down to the music. Having previously knocked out the 70's on a G2 I wanted to venture even further backwards and tackle the 60's. All music on this ablum is from the Billboard Top 100 from the 1960's. Additionally, I couldn't decide which album cover I liked more, so I ended up going with two. I'll discuss the design of those further on. I've grouped the new covers in with the older ones if you want to sneak a full-size peak. I warn you now, I'm a little long-winded on this one…

Our little family had the pleasure of visiting our nation's best national park almost two months ago. My wonderful aunt and uncle were kind enough to host us and take us on a beautiful drive to and through the park. I've finally posted some pictures from that day for your viewing pleasure. If you ever have the chance, I'd highly recommend taking the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway which officially begins a short distance from Cody and goes towards the north eastern entrance of Yellowstone Park. If you don't you'll miss out on one of the best views I've ever beheld. I could have spent a lot more time just enjoying various scenic locations, as well as the company. Although we didn't get to see all the wildlife we hoped for, for my second visit to the park in as many years did not disappoint.
We went and took pictures of the girls today for our Christmas card (Maria is very much on the ball this year). I just wanted to give you a teaser of the beautiful fall colors we got to work with. What a gorgeous time of year!
I hope you're seated – chances are you are already. It might be best if it were a chair that could recline a bit, and if you had some smelling salts nearby. I don't mean to upset you with this… but I was nearly floored when I found out for myself. A piece of your heart is about to die… technically it filed bankruptcy and closed its doors last week. That's right—Mother's Cookies, makers of the oh-so-tasty-and-delicious pink and white Circus Animal Cookies is gone. 94 years of deliciousness is about to disappear from your grocer's shelves. You played with them as a kid, indulged in them as an adult, and now I've got you in tears about their soon-to-be non-existence.
Stop reading this blog. Stop right now and go to the grocery store and buy some. If you don't, they might not be there the next time you actually want some. Don't bother going to the store nearest my workplace, because I bought all but 2 of their bags. It appeared to me that somebody else had my same idea. Sure, the expiration date is in March… but I've now guaranteed myself another 5 months of this piece of my life.
I'm not going to delve into their closing and whether it was done properly or not. This evening while coddling a bag of their cookies I'm not going to cry… much. I can only hope that another company buys the recipe or the rights to make my favorite store-bought cookie – a cookie I feel has made me who I am today. Until that time comes, I hope my stockpile holds up. Let me bid a hopefully temporary farewell to these cookies in the best way I know how – a haiku of passing:
Covered in frosting
Probably not good for me
Freakin' delicious
