While I'm on typefaces, The League of Moveable Type was good enough to notice that Morris Fuller Benton's classic Alternate Gothic No. 1 is in the public domain, and they made their own version, which I really like. I admit, I've been enjoying Gothic-style typefaces lately. I just might like this one more than Public Gothic, which I found the other day. #
Brilliant work by an illustrator/designer that is completely new to me - Jessica Hische. I love her work, especially her hand-lettering, which is her self-proclaimed specialty. I can clearly see why. What a fabulous find for the day.
Update: I'm such a space cadet, that I forgot I've already linked to her. At least the other was on her blog (which isn't super-obviously linked to from her portfolio). I'm also glad that I'm consistent in my linkage - previously it was her typography that grabbed me, and it still is. #
A free, informal, playful, hand-written-esque typeface that I imagine I could put to use on a G2 album, or something like that. #
I'm late to this one, but what an amazing set of world landmarks built in painstaking detail with Lego's. My personal favorite of the bunch, and one I wish was available with instructions is St. Basil's Cathedral. #
A mash-up/mix of Beatles music (pre/post break-up) charaded as an actual album released by The Beatles in an alternate universe/dimension (which you can download, free). It's interesting to listen to, but I find it doesn't match The Beatles style. My favorite mashup to date of Beatles music has to be The Grey Album. #
“If you set your goals ridiculously high and it’s a failure, you will fail above everyone else’s success.” — James Cameron, director of Terminator and Titanic. I'm not saying I do this, but I'd like to do better at this. #
Esref Armagan, blind since birth, and an artist, is asked to draw/paint the new Volvo S60. It's humbling and inspiring to see a man who emphasizes his strengths to accomplish something that others would find impossible. #
I'm not entirely sure why I feel compelled to read this, but I could stand to read something like this right about now. #
I think it'd be handy to have something like if only to try to reduce wear on an existing handle, and potentially distribute weight more evenly. The time requirement to make this is a bit hefty, but might be worth it. #
An all-in-one place to see everything you use/store on Google. Daunting for someone like me. #
