I love to see how a country chooses to represent itself via its money, and this is a great collection from around the world. I have some bills that they don't have, and if I were really cool, I'd scan them in and send them over. Very cool. #
Obviously I'm late to this, since Mark Weaver seems to have been Making Something Cool Every Day for all of 2009… and here it is 298 days into the year. How inspiring! For those of us who might want to try this, it might be good to try it for a week, or a month before committing to it for a whole year. Maybe an alternate to NaBloPoMo or the upcoming NaNoWriMo. Be sure to check out his site and portfolio. Very cool. #
It sure sucks to work 9-9, and I understand how it feels - much how this print would lead you to believe. I like the feel of the dark comic book lines combined with the messy spray-paint. As an added bonus, I like to see the behind-the-scenes of how some of the steps were accomplished. #
Thanks to The Library of Congress for their continual (Friday) Flickr uploads with photos of awesome old places (hereafter referred to as AOP's). This particular photo I love, mainly because of the architectural detail in the buildings. (Easy to see where Lego could be inspired for some of their buildings) #
I can enjoy houndstooth as well, though I'm not obsessed with it. Anything that has such a cool name probably deserves some level of attention. I think the wallpaper would be cool to have on a small wall (because it would probably make my eyes bleed on a huge wall), though $85 for a single roll is… excessive. #
A flickr collection of pages from an old french how-to-draw books. There's something beautiful in the simplicity of these types of books. #
I'd love to own a copy of this poster (or even better, to get one without the extra date/time crap on there). It's a great movie, and I think this is an awesome poster. "You killed the car." #
Something in these designs grabs me. I don't know if it's the informal, but obviously deliberate design. Be sure to see Alice's blog for other fine examples of her work. #
I find the artwork of Dave Perillo to be just my style. It was this print for PeeWee's Big Adventure that really pulled me in. Apparently it's on sale in the basement of the Alamo. #
Possibly due to my recent thoughts being filled with how to use that blasted new typeface Phaeton, and its older feel... or maybe it's because these illustrations are so spot on and perfectly fitting such a classic book. Either way, they deserve an appreciative review once more. (or see the full flickr set) #
