I love Day One (iPhone/iPad / OS X). Writing in a journal has been basically ground-breaking for me (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and probably in more ways). Here, Tulio Jarocki gives some great tips and insight into the process, and is certainly worth a read if you're thinking about getting started - even if it's not with Day One. If it's not Day One, I have to recommend some Field Notes notebooks, which are my second addiction. #
I love this concept art by Denis Medri for Star Wars as an 80's high school film. It's not that I'm even a big fan of Star Wars, and especially not of 80's high school movies, but this is great. #
Great, simple advice:
How many times do I stop making something because I fear it will never be perfect? How easy is it to forget the joy of the process of making? For me, these two things happen far too frequently, but I want to reclaim some of the childlike innocence in just making something and showing it off, for no other reason than I’m proud of it. #
I don't know where I first learned of this list (probably Twitter), but I'll be sure to check here again at the end of this year. This year I got Jaipur (a 2010 recommendation), and I really enjoy it. Matthew Baldwin clearly is into games, and his Good Gift Games Greatest Hits has already made me add multiple games to my ever-maintained wish list. Too bad my wife doesn't enjoy games as much as I do. #
Chris Pattle (3 months ago) posted the Simpsons characters done in pure CSS. Unfortunately, he seems to have removed his blog post about it, as well as the link to the main repo. So, I'll hesitantly link to a forked version of it here, and have posted the zipped archive on my site as well. #
Rod Christiansen shares some great ideas on journaling, using one of my favorite tools - DayOne. Of particular note here is the list of tags he uses. Digital journaling, combined with tags makes for an awesomely powerful tool. Personally I really like writing in a journal. For those of you that have never done it (or have only done it with an audience (apart from yourself) in mind), I would highly recommend it. I'm not sure if it's the forced-introspection, or the liberating nature of getting thoughts out of your head, but I think most anybody could benefit from it. #
Yet another item I forgot to link to a while ago. I enjoyed this trip down memory lane for the various version of Mario. Admittedly, the first Mario I beat was actually Super Mario Bros. 2 (which some would call an abomination), but the introduction of Toad into the family has changed things forever. #

Like most other posters I want (or even end up buying), I have no clue what I'd do with this. I'd probably give this to my mother who loves this movie, and laughs at loud at her favorite character - Snoopy. #
I love this. I'm not sure if it's the lines, or the colors, or the abstraction, or what. This is the first I've seen of Josh's work, but if the rest of it is as thoughtful and well made as this, I may have a new man crush. #
