Longbored Surfer

2009.08.13 Terrible Yellow Eyes

I've always enjoyed the book, and have often referred to it throughout my life. This is a great collection of art inspired by the book (and soon to be, movie). #

Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre... Gentlemen Broncos. #

Alice Stevenson - Barbara Trapido

Something in these designs grabs me. I don't know if it's the informal, but obviously deliberate design. Be sure to see Alice's blog for other fine examples of her work. #

2009.08.12 Translation Party

Type something in English, and this goes in cycles converting it to and from Japanese... until you find a perfect example like this. Entertaining for a few minutes. #

xkcd - Estimation

I know I'm late on this one, but since I referenced it yesterday in conversation, I figured I could officially post about it. The Author of the Windows file copy dialog is truly a dolt. #

2009.08.05 ‘Take Back the Beep’ Campaign

David Pogue has nailed it. I can't tell you how frustrating all voicemail introductions (or company-mandated instructions) are. I obviously want to leave a message. I know the routine. Just give me the beep back. #

I know you are but what am I...

I find the artwork of Dave Perillo to be just my style. It was this print for PeeWee's Big Adventure that really pulled me in. Apparently it's on sale in the basement of the Alamo. #

Leaders of Tomorrow

Though nowhere nearly as applicable to me these days as it was before, I'd still love to have this shirt. #

2009.07.17 The Great Google Doodle Triforce Conspiracy

Appealing to my Zelda fanaticism as well as my fan-boyism of Google, these hidden Triforces in Google logos are great. #

2009.07.13 Pinboard - antisocial bookmarking

Although I admit I love hosting my own bookmarks, I'm always curious about the other services out there. I like the little jab on their homepage to ma.gnolia for their lack of backups (which is what forced my hand in creating this setup), as well as the little sign-up fee to help cut back on spammers. #
