A recipe with an integrated timeline and timer... to make sure things turn out just right and at the right time. I'd be curious to see if these have multi-recipe helpers... because for me its tougher to time multiple things to be ready at the same time. Either way, pretty slick. #
Appealing to my Zelda fanaticism as well as my fan-boyism of Google, these hidden Triforces in Google logos are great. #
Although I admit I love hosting my own bookmarks, I'm always curious about the other services out there. I like the little jab on their homepage to ma.gnolia for their lack of backups (which is what forced my hand in creating this setup), as well as the little sign-up fee to help cut back on spammers. #
Speaking of The Tour, I never knew something like this existed - a computer that prints out chalk messages on the road for the riders to see. The messages were obvious, but I never knew it was done by a computer on a trailer. Very slick. #
I used to host a comic scraper on my own site, but all I really wanted was an easy way to read multiple comics. This "slurper" does that job for me now. It lets you customize which comics you want to see (out of hundreds) then can even conveniently put them into a RSS/Atom feed for daily consumption. #
My main computer is a MacBook, but I wanted to use the built-in Frontrow application on the secondary monitor (while still having the laptop on/open). This little bit of code made it possible.
defaults write com.apple.frontrow FrontRowUsePreferredDisplayID ?
Just find the display ID, with the displaysInfo utility (RapidShare link). Geeky, and inapplicable to most, but helpful to me. #
I knew it was inevitable for the Twitter and Flickr to finally get things together. I've never been a fan of yet another service housing my photos/info. Now I just need my favorite Twitter client(s) to get in gear as well. #
Pretty slick setup. I was most captivated by the racing cubes demo, so I tossed together a little axono.me Mario Brothers Race which wasn't much of a stretch beyond one of the original demos. #
In 2007 I started The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Although Robert Jordan passed away, Brandon Sanderson was asked to finish off the series. I've contemplated how that must feel, and I wholeheartedly agree that if I were to do that, "The biggest struggle [would be] the sheer weight of characters." I don't envy his position, but I sure look forward to the next release. (Also… I'm enjoying The Wheel of Time Re-Read going on over at Tor.com. Very interesting to hear/read others opinions about the series.) #
Undoubtedly you'll see more about this elsewhere, but I was fascinated by what this search engine could do, as well as its potential. Be sure to watch the intro video to get a good idea of what it does. #
